The TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation

Our Mission

TOOLS FOR LIFE has set itself the goal of giving people in all regions of the world access to essential resources that are necessary for a healthy life. This includes the provision of material necessities such as renewable energy, clean water, and basic sanitation, as well as the development of immaterial resources such as education and training. Since the end of 2021, climate protection has also become an integral part of the foundation's work, complementing its other purposes.
Against this background, Dr. Helmut Rothenberger established the TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation in 2008, which today is committed to the sustainable common good of our society in the tradition of its founder.
TOOLS FOR LIFE has created a network of organizations and local partners in selected regions, which has built several educational facilities and water supply networks in recent years and continues to operate and maintain them to this day.
The foundation's objectives are implemented with a focus on knowledge transfer and the promotion of manual skills. The foundation is active in developing countries, but also in Germany and other countries around the world.

Education

Education means the future. Our focus is on education and training as the key to economic development and prosperity.

Water

Clean drinking water and basic sanitation are human rights. We ensure that everyone can exercise their right.

Energy

A modern society is not possible without electricity. We want to give everyone access to renewable energy.

Climate Protection

Climate protection to preserve the environment for future generations. We support climate protection projects through our "sustained by" and "clean up" initiatives, among others.

Our Philosophy

In the spirit of "helping people to help themselves", TOOLS FOR LIFE wants to encourage, support and challenge people to take their fate into their own hands. With the ROTHENBERGER group of companies as a worldwide manufacturer of premium pipe tools and pipe processing machines, as well as machine tools and environmental technology, TOOLS FOR LIFE has a strong partner at its side who provides valuable help with products and the know-how of its employees.

That is why we have joined the Transparent Civil Society Initiative (Initiative Transparente Zivilgesellschaft). The main task of the foundation is to promote efficient and sustainable water and energy supply, to promote the supply of clean and potable water, to support projects for the creation of sanitation measures within the framework of development cooperation.

Our work is exempt from corporate income tax under Section 5 (1) No. 9 of the German Corporate Income Tax Act and from trade tax under Section 3 No. 6 of the German Trade Tax Act due to the promotion of development cooperation according to the last notice of exemption we received from the Frankfurt am Main III tax office (tax number 45/250/89077) dated 11th of May 2023.
