On 16. 06. 2021 the 7th HERO-Day took place. During the event, the winner of the HERO Award ceremony 2020, the non-profit association Anyievo, which supports the village of Ekpui in Togo, received a ceremonial award. In addition to the promotion of school and kindergarten children, the main focus is on continuing vocational training for the inhabitants.
The opening speech of Mr. Diehl, CFO of ROTHENBERGER AG, marked the start of the event. Afterwards, Dr. Rothenberger also welcomed the members of Anyievo and thanked them for their commitment.
Mrs. Wycisk, president of the association Anyievo, presented the beginnings and achievements of the association in a presentation. In addition to a training room and a sewing shop, a mill and a water tower were built.
With the prize money of 7,000 € the association carries out a project in the field of WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene). 1000 tanks with a capacity of 60 litres each plus liquid soap were bought and the inhabitants were taught about hygiene. With regard to diseases like Covid 19 but also other diseases like cholera.
The TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation will award the HERO 2020 Anyievo-Ekpui Support /Togo e. V. also in future projects.
