Regine Prümen-Mündelein und Josef Mündelein
On July 17, the HERO 2022 couple, Regine Prümen-Mündelein and Josef Mündelein, were guests at NORDWEST Handel AG in Dortmund. The couple have been involved in Uganda for 15 years and have been able to help many people in the country through donations and regular donations of school materials, children's shoes and medical supplies.
With the €5,000 prize money from the HERO Award, the educator couple can equip the first buildings of the Kasana St. Jude Primary School in Luweero/Uganda with gutters, downpipes and storage tanks as part of the rainwater collection system project and start a new project on site.
As in previous years, the HERO Day was a complete success, TOOLS FOR LIFE and the couple Mrs. Prümen-Mündelein and Mr. Mündelein were able to exchange ideas after the event and both parties are looking forward to a great cooperation.
We would also like to mention the 2nd placed winner of the HERO Awards, the Niedereschach fire department from the Black Forest, for their unprecedented help after the floods in the Ahr valley in the summer of 2021 and the help they provided afterwards, such as supplying 478 cubic meters of dry firewood so that the residents could heat in winter.
But we also want to mention KIRAN SOCIETY as the 3rd place winner, because over the past 32 years KIRAN SOCIETY has helped thousands of disabled children and young people from poor families to lead a hopeful life through inclusive schooling, rehabilitation and training. The Kiran village, which was built out of nothing on the banks of the Ganges 25 years ago, is a place of joy, peace and sharing.
