HERO 2024

Guardian Public School in Pakistan

On June 17, 2025, the ceremonial presentation of our HERO Award 2024 took place. This year, first place went to the Guardian Public School in Parachinar, Pakistan - a school that was founded in 2021 by Irshad Hussain, a dedicated employee of ROTHENBERGER Werkzeuge GmbH, and his family. Since then, he has supported the school with great dedication and personal commitment.

Projects implemented thanks to the HERO Award

Thanks to the support of € 6,560, important projects have already been realized:

  • Installation of a PV system (16 modules) for a better power supply
  • Installation of 26 fans
  • Purchase of an XXL ice chest
  • Construction of two toilets
  • Purchase of a projector
  • Construction and equipping of an IT room (in planning)
  • Installation of a 1,000 liter water tank (in planning)

Education for a better future

The Guardian Public School prepares its pupils specifically for a successful future. Lessons are taught in English in order to best prepare the children for an international professional world. The dedicated team of teachers is actively and sustainably committed to the children's development.

Educational policy challenges on site

  • In 2024, a lot of teaching time was lost due to unrest
  • Over 64,000 pupils are enrolled in 374 schools in the region, but girls' education in particular is often neglected
  • Lack of textbooks, uniforms and fuel for transportation
  • Literacy rate is only 45.2% (men: 63%, women: 21%)

Power outages and infrastructure problems

Pakistan, and Parachinar in particular, is affected by frequent power outages (“load shedding”). The causes are energy shortages, outdated infrastructure and political challenges. The remote location of Parachinar further exacerbates the situation.

The school at a glance

  • Private school for grades 1 to 10
  • 10 female teachers, 17 male teachers
  • 115 female pupils, 385 male pupils
  • Monthly support from Irshad Hussain

The Guardian Public School is an impressive example of how commitment and targeted support can improve the lives of many children in the long term.
