AzubiCamp 2026: Exchange, Perspectives, and True Empowerment in the Skilled Trades
A day full of energy, discussions, and new perspectives: The AzubiCamp 2026 once again demonstrated just how much potential lies in the exchange among trainees. Organized simultaneously in Munich and Berlin—and connected via a live video link—the event became a vibrant gathering place for young people from a wide variety of trades. A total of 85 participants came together.
A Day by Apprentices, for Apprentices
Whether in HVAC, automotive, electrical, painting, roofing, or plastering—apprentices from many different fields came together at the AzubiCamp. What made it special: The program was entirely in their hands. They suggested their own topics, organized sessions, and moderated discussions.
Amid questions, exchanges, table tennis, discussions, the rooftop terrace, and barbecues, an atmosphere emerged on the “Guild’s Sun Deck” that was both relaxed and intellectually profound. And of course, one thing couldn’t be missing: dessert.
Topics That Really Matter
In three rounds of sessions, the participants discussed exactly what concerns them in their day-to-day apprenticeships:
- Apprenticeships and exams
- The 4-day workweek
- Digitalization in the skilled trades
- Driver’s licenses and mobility
- Racism in the workplace
- Career paths and future prospects
The program was complemented by an “Ask Me Anything” expert panel, where participants spoke openly about personal experiences, salaries, stays abroad, and career paths.
A particular highlight was the communication workshop, led by external trainers, which made a big impression on many participants.
In addition to the content-focused sessions, the main emphasis was on networking. New connections were made during the group barbecue on the rooftop terrace or during breaks—and participants often realized that many challenges in the skilled trades are similar across different trades.
One participant summed it up perfectly:
I spoke with a roofer who deals with issues similar to those I face as a plant mechanic.
It was precisely this cross-industry dialogue that made the AzubiCamp so valuable for so many.
Voices from the Camp
The feedback clearly shows how positively the day was received:
Great food, nice people, good conversations!”
“There are so many opportunities for students to connect and so many events in the city that aren’t really available to apprentices. That’s why it was really great today to connect with other apprentices, especially those in the skilled trades.
These comments show that the AzubiCamp strikes a chord—because events of this kind are still rare for apprentices.
More Than Just an Event: A Space for Self-Efficacy
The AzubiCamp is more than just a gathering—it’s a space for:
- Personal Responsibility
- Exchange Among Peers
- Self-Confidence
- Skill Development
- Networking
Especially in the skilled trades, where the focus is often heavily on practical training, this format provides an important complement: a space for reflection, discussion, and personal development.
Stronger Together – in Munich, Berlin, and Beyond
Thanks to the simultaneous events in Munich and Berlin and the digital connection between the two locations, AzubiCamp 2026 became a cross-regional experience. Organized by the SHK guilds and supported by the Tools for Life Foundation, the event demonstrates what modern efforts to recruit the next generation of skilled tradespeople can look like.
Conclusion
Many thanks to the SHK guilds in Berlin and Munich, as well as all other participants, for their support. AzubiCamp 2026 has impressively proven that
when trainees are given the opportunity to shape the topics themselves, the result is a program with genuine relevance.
Or, as one participant put it succinctly:
Amazing.
