The TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation wishes everyone a happy, healthy and successful 2023. It is a special year for us - we are celebrating the Foundation's 15th anniversary. Many new exciting projects are on our agenda this year.

On 15 December, the TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation had its annual review. It was a very exciting year with many exciting, but also exhausting projects.

 

After 2 years of interruption due to Corona, "Your Commitment" finally took place again this year. Four ROTHENBERGER employees set off for South Africa to help with a project together with our partner organisation Thusanang.

TOOLS FOR LIFE has launched a new campaign together with Rothenberger's SAS: "Sustained by" - all about sustainability. In future, products that have been repaired or upgraded will receive a sticker from us and a small amount will be donated to us for climate protection projects.

From mid to late October, our TOOLS FOR LIFE ambassadors Ingried and Michael were once again in India visiting the women's rights organization Jagori Grameen. There, in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh, they conducted two training sessions on car mechanics and electrical installation.

Like last year, TOOLS FOR LIFE organised a clean-up campaign again this year as part of World CleanUp Day under the motto "TOOLS FOR LIFE - We clean up!". Many thanks to the volunteers who supported us in this campaign!

Managing Director Dr Sandra Rothenberger was a guest at this year's F.A.Z. conference Stiftung & Unternehmen #5. The topic was the social mission - about the understanding of responsibility in SMEs.

The Tennis Inclusion Day was a great success! Together with the Kelkheim Tennis Club KTEV and the Hessian Tennis Association, the first inclusion day of the initiative "Tennis for all" took place on Saturday, August 27. Children and adults with and without disabilities could try tennis on the courts of the KTEV. Also everyone could try out what additional skills it takes to play wheelchair tennis.

TOOLS FOR LIFE continues to be active in Ukraine aid and has donated 2000€ to the non-profit association "Gemeinsam für die Ukraine e.V". This has helped the people in Ukraine, but also those in Germany, and offers 7 different courses for about 150 women.

 

On 15 June, the members of HERO 2021, KinderEngel RheinMain e.V. were guests at the TEC Center in Kelkheim, the headquarters of the foundation. The association supports families with seriously or life-shortened children and adolescents and gives them a ray of hope in everyday life.

 

From 31.05. - 03.06. Project Manager Felix Gottschlich visited the first Wellbeing Summit of the organization Wellbeing Project.

Ms. Rothenberger, Executive Director of the TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation, did an interview for a blog by Thomas Fuchs about the impressions and experiences of the aid convoy to Poland for Ukraine relief.

The Mozambican delegation visited ROTHENBERGER to find out about the dual study model, on behalf of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). Project manager Felix Gottschlich gave a presentation about TOOLS FOR LIFE and introduced the foundation's work. The state secretaries were very interested in a cooperation with our foundation. A good basis for further talks and possible new cooperations.

TOOLS FOR LIFE organised a CleanUp Day in cooperation with the kindergarten in Eppenhain. There were 40 kindergarten children with their teachers and a Ukrainian refugee family who supported us. A playground, an old sports field and several paths at the edge of the forest were cleared of rubbish by the children.

Last weekend, the foundation stone was laid for the new secondary school in Mbafaye, Senegal. Representatives of the village, the municipality, the school authority, teachers and students, the headmaster and the parents' council were on site.

In the first construction phase, two new classrooms, sanitary facilities and an administration building will be built.

A speech written by TOOLS FOR LIFE was read out and afterwards there was a celebration for the happy occasion.

 

TOOLS FOR LIFE is planning an aid convoy to Poland next week. The intention is to take aid supplies with us and in turn take refugees from the crisis areas with us to Germany.

During the Senegal trip of Dr Rothenberger and Dr Sandra Rothenberger, a visit to a school in Baback was also on the agenda. To improve the empty playground, TOOLS FOR LIFE donated football goals with nets. These were set up and now officially handed over to the pupils.
The Senegalese national team also beat Egypt in the final of the Africa Cup and won it for the first time. Perhaps one or two new Senegalese players will now begin their careers on the new pitch thanks to our goals.

 

TOOLS FOR LIFE was invited to coffee and cake by this year's HERO Award winner "KinderEngel RheinMain e.V." and had the opportunity to talk about many projects. The association supports children and young people with severe or life-shortening illnesses and their families to make their daily lives a little easier. In June, on our HERO Day, the KinderEngel will receive the HERO Award and present more about their projects.

The District Administrator of the Main-Taunus-Kreis, Mr. Cyriax, handed over the donations from the Oldtimer Rallye of September 2021 to the TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation. A sum of 7000€ was collected. The money will go to the school construction project in Mbafaye as part of the "1000 Schools for Our World" initiative.

To help the people of Sierra Leone, PfefferminzGreen e.V. and the TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation have joined forces to support the Sierra Leonean partner organisation AIM (Amazonian Initiative Movement) with the LOVE IS COLORBLIND project.

The HERO Day was a great success! 34 members of our HERO Miteinander leben in Kelkheim were guests at the TEC Center in Kelkheim, the foundation's headquarters, on June 25.

The Family Business Network (FBN), a network of family organizations, handed a 1,000 € donation to TOOLS FOR LIFE!

On 13.07.2019, the TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation took part in the annual general meeting of the charitable association „Hilfe für Afrika–Wasser für Senegal“.

On the occasion of his 70th birthday, Dr. Helmut Rothenberger, initiator of the TOOLS FOR LIFE foundation, received a special gift: The employees of ROTHENBERGER AG, of which Dr. Rothenberger is Chairman of the Board, collected money worldwide for the foundation to enable him to support an issue close to his heart.

Our HERO 2017 is the Indian women’s rights organisation Jagori Rural Charitable Trust, which works towards a more just society.

We received good news from Mongolia – in 2016 we had collected funds to support the Mongolian organization Lotus which has taken care of abandoned and vulnerable children in Mongolia since 1995.

On 8th June, 2017, the winners of HERO 2016 visited the ROTHENBERGER TEC Center and spent an enjoyable and informative afternoon there.

The UN’s World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of freshwater every year. The 2017 topic “Wastewater” builds upon previous World Water Days and highlights how the connection between water and wastewater influences the quest for sustainable development.

We are very pleased that our project partner EWB has now finalised the second project stage of the construction of the sanitation and drinking water complex at the Secondary School in Iyolwa, Uganda, both on time and within the Budget.

In co-operation with the charitable association PROBONO, we support the construction of a well at a girls‘ school in Mwanda, Tanzania.

Tomorrow is the final deadline for the submissions of the third TOOLS FOR LIFE HERO campaign. Next week we will give you all details on the nominees.

Mathis Brinkmann started off into his project "School for life" in Yumbo, Colombia, very well. He already took over his teaching job giving lessons to students up to ninth grade.

It's big day today for Alexander Butz and Ian Vargas. The two employees of the ROTHENBERGER group of companies start for their "Your commitment" trip to Uganda today.

Good news from Bakelelu: the organization by Jésus Martin, which we supported in the course of our HERO 2015 initiative, ran another summer camp in 2016 for kids from the Sahara Region.

Together with Engineers without borders (EWB) we start into part two of our Iyolwa-Project project in Uganda.

The University of Innsbruck School of Management hosted an international working seminar in February with more than 200 students from over 20 countries.

Congratulations! Our HERO of 2015 has been awarded to the Malsfelder Werkstätten by the Baunatal Diakonie Kassel e.V. (bdks), which has been working for ROTHENBERGER for more than 15 years.

New Year – New Project: We are very pleased to be able to support our new partner, the Solar Energy Foundation, in building Solar Villages in the poorest areas of the world.

Ingried Gerber, our technical trainer at ROTHENBERER, arrived in India to visit and support the project Jagorirameen of Abha Bhaiya.

The first German lesson for refugees started at the ROTHENBERGER Headquarter Wednesday December 3, at 10.00 am.

Unforntunately TOOLS FOR LIFE was not elected "Hessian Foundation of the year 2015" at the Hessian Foundation day last week in Wiesbaden.

The first part of this project is done! The construction of the sanitation complex has been completed as planned and we are very happy that all went well.

As part of the "We help" initiative Dr. Helmut Rothenberger donated 10,000 EUR today for the refugees living in the Huenxe area.

Excited and curious were the 16 participants of the German class for refugees in Kelkheim-Fischbach when TOOLS FOR LIFE presented the new German textbooks to Kelkheim's civic refugee support.

Yesterday we presented our foundation at the Hessian state government as candidate for the "Hessian foundation of the year 2015".

Take-off will be on September 29,2015: the two ROTHENBERGER employees Ross Dickinson from England and Timm Wagenknecht from Germany will travel with the "Engineers without borders"-Team from Karlsruhe/Germany to Uganda.

Women have a difficult position in India. Even though legislation supports the equality of men and women now, the poor status of women and the consequent discrimination are still deeply anchored in Society.

Our longterm engagement Pro Togoville bears fruit: the vegetable garden and the pig breeding, that were started in 2014, thrive and prosper.

We are very pleased to report that the Collège in Mbousnakh was inaugurated in April and is now in full Operation.

The deep well project in Pallo, Senegal, is one of the biggest water projects supported by TOOLS FOR LIFE to date.

What a joy! On February 4, Dr. Sabine Rothenberger, member of the TOOLS FOR LIFE Board, presented the funds of last year’s Christmas campaign to Father Antonios in Athens.

The die is cast: Father Antonios from Athens, Greece, and his initiative "Ark of the world" were chosen to be the HERO 2014 for this year's christmas campaign "Donation instead of gifts".

On April 8, 2014, an airplane flew in the direction of Senegal and Patrick Arbeiter, area sales representative from ROTHENBERGER Germany GmbH, was on board.

The Hessian state government presented the TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation the Foundation of the Month February 2014 Award.

In October 2013, Michel Moulin, COO of the ROTHENBERGER AG, appealed to the ROTHENBERGER country subsidiaries to participate in a joint fundraiser for TOOLS FOR LIFE at the “Core Business Leadership Contribution 2013” meeting.
