Water that changes lives!
The Kalule Children Shelter, an orphanage in Uganda, is currently home to 18 children. Access to clean water is a daily, existential challenge for them and the surrounding village community. Until now, clean drinking water has had to be purchased at great expense - a burden that affects both the orphanage and over 1,000 people in Buwambo.
Our solution:
The construction of a well directly on the grounds of the shelter. With a grant of €4,410, TOOLS FOR LIFE can make the construction possible and thus sustainably improve the living conditions for the children and the entire community.
The advantages at a glance:
- Direct help for 18 orphans: The well saves around €200 a month in water costs and ensures a basic supply.
- Sustainability through self-sufficiency: With its own water, the shelter can cover around 50% of its own food requirements by growing vegetables - an important step towards independence.
- Help and improved living conditions for the whole community: over 1,000 people in the village of Buwambo benefit from affordable, clean water for the first time.
