Reliable Energy for Education: Solar Systems for the SONNE International School
Our partner SONNE-International operates two of its own schools in rural India—one in the village of Basadhi and one in the village of Bakrour. A total of 320 students currently attend these schools. Both facilities are fully energy self-sufficient thanks to solar systems and are not connected to the public power grid.
In April 2025, the solar system at the school in the village of Bakrour was destroyed by a severe storm. Repairs were no longer possible, leaving the school without a power supply. As a result, the entire school operation—especially teaching—was severely affected.
Die lokale Partnerorganisation reagierte umgehend und ließ eine neue Solaranlage installieren. Dank dieser schnellen Maßnahme konnte die Stromversorgung erfolgreich wiederhergestellt werden. Der Unterricht wurde wieder aufgenommen und der Schulbetrieb nachhaltig gesichert.
The new system ensures that the school will continue to be supplied with reliable, sustainable, and independent energy in the future—an essential prerequisite for continuous education and stable learning conditions for the children on site.
